Fellowships support UCLA graduate students conducting research on the topic of minorities in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA)

Academic Year 2020-21 predoctoral fellowships are intended for graduate students working on the historical, legal and political aspects of ethnic and religious minorities in the MENA region with the aim with the aim of providing them with further training to pursue scholarship and teach on topics pertaining to the MENA region. Applicants may be from any humanities and social science discipline.

Fellowship Amount:

The fellowship provides a $21,500 stipend, plus in-state tuition and fees.

Fellowship Requirements:

Graduate fellows will receive pedagogical training by participating in quarterly workshops and curriculum seminars on the topic of minorities in the MENA region. 

Application Requirements:

- A two-page description of the applicant’s primary research interest, area of specialization and career goals.
- Unofficial university transcripts
- Resume or CV
- Two academic letters of recommendation, one should be from the student's dissertation chair.
