Faisal Husain is assistant professor of history at the Pennsylvania State University. His book, Rivers of the Sultan (Oxford University Press, 2021), examined the role of the Tigris and Euphrates in the establishment of Ottoman state institutions along the Ottoman eastern frontier between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries. Husain serves on the editorial board of Marmara Türkiyat Araştırmaları Dergisi, a Turkology journal based in Turkey, and Global Environment, an environmental history journal based in Italy.
