While At UCLA

I was born and raised in Sacramento, California and did my undergraduate work at CSU Sacramento. I got my BA in history with a minor in Spanish and spent my final year studying abroad in Granada, Spain.

At UCLA I am pursuing a Masters of Library and Information Science and a MA in Latin American studies. My research interests include human rights archives, community archives, Latin American special collections, and the representation of marginalized communities in school curriculum. I spent the last year working at the UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center on the La Raza Newspaper and Magazine Records collection. I am now a College Academic Mentor in the UCLA Program for Excellence in Education and Research in the Sciences (PEERS). I am currently president of two graduate student groups in the department of Information Studies. One group brings reading materials to incarcerated youth and is called Books Beyond Bars and the other is an LGBT student group called OutReach. When I have free time I enjoy hiking, doing yoga, watching movies and lying around reading.
