Advancement to Candidacy

DGE Master's Advancement to Candidacy Petition Form

 Please follow the following instructions:

  • Download your unofficial transcript from MyUCLA after finalizing your study list for your final quarter to ensure that your final-quarter courses appear on your transcript.
  • Highlight only the courses you are using to fulfill the course requirement. The highlighted courses must match the courses listed on your final degree worksheet.
  • When highlighting the courses, also highlight the final letter grade for each applicable course, except for courses taken during your final quarter, as final grades may not yet be posted.
  • Do not highlight language courses used to satisfy the language requirement (e.g. Spanish 25, Portuguese 11B, and etc.).
  • If you received an Incomplete grade that was later changed to a final letter grade, highlight the course listed under the term in which the revised letter grade was recorded. Courses with an Incomplete grade that had lapsed to an “F” may not be used to satisfy the course requirement.
  • Upload the ATC Petition form and your transcript to the LAS MA Bruin Learn course site by the end of Week 2 of the graduating quarter (registered and enrolled). If students plan to petition for a filing fee quarter, students must have advanced to candidacy at least one quarter prior to the term of Filing Fee usage.
