Joint Degree
Under UCLA regulations, applicants may apply to only one major unless they are applying to an approved concurrent or articulated degree program. The Latin American Studies program offers concurrent and articulated degree options in partnership with several UCLA programs, as listed below. This allows students to apply to two programs simultaneously, offering the potential to earn two degrees in less time than completing them sequentially. To pursue both degrees, applicants must gain admission to each program.
Applications will be reviewed separately, as each department has its own admission requirements and conducts an independent evaluation. If the deadlines differ, applicants must submit their application on or before the earlier deadline.
Visit the Division of Graduate Education (DGE) website for more information about concurrent and articulated programs.
Concurrent Degree Programs
Students in concurrent degree programs can overlap up to two courses (8 units) between the programs, via petition.
Articulated Degrees
Articulated degrees do not allow course overlap between the degrees.
