How to create and/or edit an article list

Please upgrade to a browser that supports HTML5 video or install Flash

An article list creates a list to and from which users can add and remove articles, rather than a list of articles automatically populated by a certain criteria (as is the default case). In other words, it allows you to make a specific list of articles that you want to publish instead of publishing the whole article pool. Furthermore, you will be able to edit exactly which articles are on that list and in what order, rather then it being determined automatically.

To create an article list, click Article Lists in the Article module of the Webtools homepage. Then click New Article List on Article Lists page.

On the Add Article List page, there is only one section, Article List Properties, with five fields, four of which are mandatory: Article List Title, Description, Unit/Center/Program, and Active. Selecting No for Active will prevent the list from showing on any webpage.

The optional field that asks you about any other information is usually not displayed. It just holds notes for you.

You can go back to edit an article list through the Properties link on the Article Lists page, which brings you to the Edit Properties page with the same fields as when creating the list.

As always, when you are done creating or editing your article list, do not forget to Save and Exit from the page.

How to manage articles in an article list

Please upgrade to a browser that supports HTML5 video or install Flash

The Article list tool has the ability to filter article lists by Center or search by List Title or ID. Once you find the list that you want, you can edit what articles are on the list via the Manage Articles link in the Action column.

Managing an article list is similar to related articles. In the second section, you can search for related articles by Center/program, Article Type, Title keyword or Article ID. You can also display Only Published articles in the search results.

Once you narrow down your search and locate the related articles, click Add to List. This will carry the particular article to the related articles table above. You can assign other articles the same way.

On this table, you can Edit each article, or Remove them individually. After you save the list, you can reorder your list. Do not forget to click Save List Order when you are done editing this table.

When you go back to the Article Lists page and locate your source article list, you can see the number of articles you just assigned to your source list in the # of Articles column.
